Our Mission & Beliefs

At St. Jude’s, our mission is to help our students experience the JOY of LEARNING! We believe students require consistency, understanding, fairness, and a sense of personal responsibility, as well as excellent teaching.

Quick Facts

St. Jude’s is unlike any other school in Waterloo Region! At a glance, this is what sets us apart:

  • Waterloo Region’s only private, special education day school
  • Non-denominational and co-educational
  • Teacher-directed special education customized and structured for each student
  • Helping students for more than 40 years
  • Classes are staffed with a teacher and an educational assistant
  • Classes size is based on the needs of the students and are generally in the ratio of 3/4/5 students to one instructor
  • Although, St. Jude’s recognizes that many children experiencing learning difficulties (i.e. LD, ADD, ASD) experience low self esteem, anxieties and frustrations, St. Jude’s does not accept that physically aggressive, intimidating and or threatening behaviour is intrinsic to these learning difficulties. In most instances these are learned behaviours and will not be tolerated and will result in withdrawal of registration and/or expulsion.
  • St. Jude’s will not accept a child with or needing a “Safety Plan” as defined by the publicly funded educational systems
